The Shah Family Foundation’s partnership with Udayan Care is transforming the lives of young women in Pilani, India, through the Udayan Shalini Fellowship. Now a year into our six-year commitment, this initiative provides financial support, mentoring, and leadership development to empower talented girls from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Udayan Shalini Fellowship goes beyond conventional scholarship programs by combining financial assistance with regular mentoring, leadership development, and a strong emphasis on social responsibility. Operating across 36 chapters in 14 states, the program has supported over 15,000 young women since its inception, equipping them with the tools to thrive both academically and personally.
Since launching the Pilani chapter in 2022 with the support of the Shah Family Foundation, the program has reached 109 Shalini’s, including 54 inducted this year after a rigorous selection process. These young women have gained critical skills through workshops on topics like employability, mental health, and leadership. Highlights include the “Women in Leadership” workshop, which encouraged participants to embrace leadership roles, and sessions on effective communication and goal-setting to prepare Shalini’s for academic and professional success.

The program’s impact is evident in stories like that of Saniya Kanwar, who scored an impressive 93.8% in her 12th-grade board exams, earning recognition as one of her district’s top scorers. Through workshops and mentoring, Saniya has grown from a reserved student into a confident leader, proving the power of education and support.
The fellowship also instills a spirit of social responsibility. This year, Shalini’s organized tree plantation drives, environmental clean-ups, and volunteered during program events. These activities not only contribute to their communities but also build leadership skills and a sense of purpose.
